IPXI University Tech Transfer Webinar

Creating an Efficient & Transparent Licensing Marketplace for University Technology Transfer

If you are not aware of the Intellectual Property Exchange International (IPXI), it is the world’s first financial exchange focused on intellectual property rights.

Essentially, IPXI is an innovative open market exchange where patent portfolios can be efficiently monetized. The Unit License Right™ (ULR) contract  is the first exchange traded non-exclusive license product to accelerate the adoption and transfer of technology and maximize licensing revenues.  The ULR contract program provides price discovery, transparency, and efficiency to an otherwise clandestine patent transaction market.  It also offers an opportunity for patent owners to outsource many of the transaction, auditing and enforcement costs associated with running a successful licensing program.

To date, IPXI has received an overwhelmingly positive response, including commitments from some of the largest and most innovative S&P 500 companies and universities to become Founding Members or regular participants in the exchange.  IPXI will become the central platform for the transfer of technology.

In creating this marketplace, IPXI is committed to accommodating University OTT needs and bottom lines. The university and research laboratory space is very important to IPXI’s mission of growing a fair and balanced IP licensing platform.  Specifically, Bayh-Dole concerns, limited resource marketing, and the implications of government funding and ongoing collaborative research are all issues which have been considered and carefully addressed in the ULR contract model.  In addition, IPXI provides an opportunity for further investment in and advancement of university research through market enhancing and revenue maximizing solutions.
