Sponsored by Keese School of Continuing Education at Asbury, David offers his lecture/concert on Music of Colonial Maryland.
"Come learn about and enjoy Maryland's music from the colonial era, by renowned specialists Dr. David Hildebrand. This lecture/concert will include patriotic songs, ballads, marches, dance tunes, and theater songs heard in 18th-century Annapolis, Baltimore and beyond -- and by important visitors like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Francis Scott Key!.
Based upon decades of researching, arranging, recording, and performing early American music, David will speak, sing, and play upon the Baroque guitar, English guitar, English flute and spinet (harpsichord) in what promises to be both an entertaining and educational evening. These programs highlight the formal and less refined aspects of music associated with early America. Spoken introductions and stories will put the music and instruments into context."
This event requires advance registration.
